With all of the unusual public behaviors we’ve seen in real life and social media as of late, Amanda Bynes has sure been garnering lots of press.

It all seemed to start with her declaration that she was quitting Hollywood and retiring from acting in June, 2010.  Bynes took to her @AmandaBynesTwitter feed to state:

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”

and…

“I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first, I’ve #retired.”

What followed were:

-A series of DUI incidences in California

-An escape to NYC (where walking seems to best suit her transportation needs)

-A dramatic arrest and mental health evaluation, after many peculiar (I’m being kind here ) actions

-An ongoing series of unpleasant tweets (lashing out at other celebrities, most of whom are called “ugly” in some form or another)

-The dramatic evolution of her look (facial piercings, partially-shaved head, unkempt blonde wig, etc.)

-Her propensity to deny that photos and media reports of her are actually “Amanda Bynes” (strolling through a mall in NJ, soaking in a hot tub in Atlantic City, bouncing on a trampoline in upstate NY, etc.)

Is it Really Amanda Bynes?

To expand upon that last remark, a woman having a strong physical resemblance to Bynes was recently photographed walking the streets of New York City holding a petite and fluffy companion canine.  The photo can be found via E!Online.com: Amanda Bynes Takes Her Puppy Dog Shopping.

So, is this photo of Bynes and her dog really even them? The picture sure makes it seem so, especially considering the fact that Bynes’ right forearm tattoo is apparent. Bynes then issued a statement claiming otherwise via Twitter:

“OH MY GOD! THAT’S NOT ME! They morphed my face onto someone with a different face shape!”

The Pomeranian Dog Breed

So, let’s move on from the “if it’s her and her pooch or not” topic and focus on the dog. Bynes holds a dog appearing to be a Pomeranian. The breed is a favorite among people seeking companionship from a friendly, portable, non-space consuming canine.

Other celebrities are known to favor the Pomeranian, include Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Lisa Vanderpump, Kelly Osbourne, Hilary Duff, and Carmen Electra.

Obesity Poses a Problem

As you can see from the picture, the dog is being carried, which is common occurrence that can actually be detrimental to promoting a state of whole body health. Many owners feel as though these dogs are too fragile to endure the rigors of daily life and need to be pampered through carrying and over-feeding. Deficient activity plus caloric overindulgence equals an overweight or obese Pomeranian. Obesity is a completely preventable disease that can have irreversible secondary consequences, including:

-Heart and lung disease

-Constipation

-Arthritis and Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD)

-Skin and coat problems

-Poor urinary tract health

-Cancer

Even an overweight Chihuahua may still seem quite small, but the body condition score (BCS) may be elevated. Always strive to keep your pet on the lower end of the BCS scale (2-3).

Having a pet can be a great source of comfort and companionship for people undergoing hardships. Yet, if a pet’s home environment is not ideal due to irregular owner-established patterns of feeding, drinking, eliminating, and training, then behavioral and physical abnormalities can occur.

I wish Bynes and her pooch the best of professional and personal happiness and health. Hopefully, we’ll see more photos of them out and about on NYC’s streets with the human’s two and canine’s four legs in action.
