The Real Housedogs of Beverly Hills Part 3- Adrienne Maloof and Luna

Initially, entrepreneurial Adrienne Maloof shares a pet free household with her plastic surgeon husband, Paul Nassif, and their three children. For Maloof’s birthday, Nassif is finally able to elicit some enthusiasm from his wife with the gift of Luna, a young, female, German Shepherd Dog.

Unfortunately, the security trained Luna was not the appropriate fit for Adrienne’s family environment and now lives with their dog trainer.

Adrienne maintains a positive attitude and is optimistic about having another, more family friendly dog in the future. On her blog Seasons of Love, Adrienne lends helpful perspective to any potential pet owner:

“I think the lesson here is to really choose a dog that fits with your environment – and this goes beyond researching for the right breed. This also means paying great attention to the unique temperament of the specific animal you choose before you choose it, and exposing the pet to the situations it will encounter in your home to see how it will react.”

‘Bravo’ to Adrienne for taking this approach, which also reinforces that pets should not be given as surprise gifts. Are you listening Russell Armstrong (see The Real Housedogs of Beverly Hills Part 1- Taylor Armstrong and Snowball)?

I hope a canine companion better suited to the Maloof-Nassif household will join them when the time is right. I would love to lend my integrative (combination of Western and Chinese) veterinary medical perspective to manage the health care of their future pooch.
